TV - 'Octographer - World's First on Discovery Channel'
‘A special rig helped Rambo the octopus to push a shutter button to capture images of visitors outside her tank at Kelly Tarlton's Sea Life Aquarium in New Zealand. Rambo's trainer, Mark Vette, says it took her just three attempts to understand the process, though at times she behaved like an eight-armed diva, smashing several cameras to bits during a two-month training process. Bruce shot the process for Discovery Channel.

With 19 years experience of the entire process needed to make good television, Bruce Nixon is able to offer a great deal as Director of Photography. He is a self-directed shooter if required, who can confidently approach the talent or authorities on the directors behalf whether filming with a crew in New Zealand or going solo anywhere in the world. Among the qualifications of a good cameraman, serious application is of first importance. To discuss your project contact Bruce bruce@nixonpictures.co.nz or phone +64 21 2704327

Corporate - 'Ministry of Economic Development'
The It's not OK campaign is a community-driven effort to reduce family violence in New Zealand. Its goal is to change attitudes and behaviour that tolerate any kind of family violence. The vision is a community where each person believes there is something they can do to help and is likely to act when they know violence is happening. The Paeroa community is a perfect and very successful example of how this campaign can work and in January 2013, Nixon Pictures filmed a promotional video for client Borderless Productions.
Bruce is looking forward to another live TV coverage of an attempt at the world's longest waterslide record. Again Australia's CH7 will feature it on breakfast TV.
Documentary 'Americas Cup'
Welsh actor John Rhys-Davies fronted this doco series about the history of the Americas Cup. NZ Producer Larry Keating has made a number of programs about this exciting sport that captures the attention of nations whenever it's held. Nixon Pictures client was Mediawave.
TV Live Broadcasting
Live TV is enough to scare off most camera operators. It requires a steady hand and heart! Over the years Bruce has filmed all sorts of scenarios live from 100m underground, to the red carpet - even dogs driving cars! End users have been CH 7 & 9 in Australia, TVSN Australia and Air NZ. Nixon Pictures films these events for NZ-based client Kordia.
Documentary 'All Black na hÉireann'
The story of the first ever captain of the All Blacks, Dave Gallaher and his amazing journey from Donegal Ireland to the trenches in World War 1. A national hero in New Zealand, he established the enigma of the All Blacks but remains unknown in Ireland until now. New Zealand footage was shot by Bruce including an interview by NZ author Matt Elliott. Nixon Pictures client was Square 1 - Ireland.
