The Meaning Behind Our Logo

"Rua" are defined as holes in the ground where kumara and other foods are stored. In the context of our logo, the Rua represent the storage place of the three baskets of knowledge:

Te kete - Tuatea; the basket of light – which holds our present knowledge.
Te kete -  Tuauri; basket of darkness - which holds the unknown.
Te kete - Aronui; basket of pursuit the knowledge humans currently seek.

The spiral represents Mauri or Life Force, this is an energy which binds and animates all things in the physical world.

And the figure head of the Manaia represents both Human and Spiritual beings. The Manaia is a guardian of balance and protection. It represents the balance between the sky (the head of a bird), the earth (the body of a man) and the sea (the tail of a fish).
