Tunas Bluefin

The species are listed as Near Threatened, with nearly two-thirds making it to the Least Concern category. The most risk with five of the eight species in the threatened categories Tunas, including: Southern bluefin; Atlantic bluefin; Bigeye; Yellowfin and Albacore.

The IUCN Species Survival Commission's Tuna and Billfish Specialist Group, Senior Scientist of the U.S National Marine Fisheries Service, and lead author of the paper. Dr Bruce B says, "This is the first time that fishery scientists, ichthyologists and conservationists have come together to jointly produce an assessment of the threats facing a commercially important group of fishes".

Many species in economically extreme high value, the information should prove invaluable in helping governments make decisions to safe-guard these species, and has come about just in time for the 3rd Joint Meeting of the Tuna Regional Fisheries Management Organisations (RFMO) being held in La Jolla, California, July 11-15.

Dr Kent Carpenter says, all three bluefin tuna species are ceptible to collapse under continued excessive fishing pressure. The Southern Bluefin has already essentially crashed, with little hope of recovery.The western Atlantic Bluefin stocks are at risk of collapse as they are showing little sign that the population is rebuilding following a significant reduction in the 1970s.

ALFA ROMEO 156 GTA

The Alfa Romeo 156 is a car that has always been a hard-sell on paper. HARRISBURG, AR (KAIT) – The HarrisburgEconomic Development Commission is working to improve the appearance of businesses in town by using tax dollars for economic development. Region 8 News talked about a special grant the HEDC has this year, in which businesses renovating the outside appearance of buildings can apply for a 50% matching grant with the city.

Mayor Randy Mills said the city had $10,000 in grant money available for 2011, but only a few thousand dollars are remaining. He said two businesses have been approved for a maximum grant of $2,500. Two other businesses have also been approved.

"We want to help the folks out in this town that's actually putting into this tax base. We want to help them out. We want to do what we can for them," said Mills. "It's just sitting in the bank and nothing is happening to it and I think we're using it wisely."

According to the grant guidelines, buildings must have an active business or an active business within a month of the project's completion. It states only outside renovations qualify, such as removal, cleaning, repainting, repair, landscaping or other exterior projects approved by the city. All paint and awning colors must be approved by the city and all changes during construction must be approved.

Mills said residents made the grant possible by voting for an economic development tax.
